We are seeking an independent and motivated student interested in research related to developing alternative lake trout suppression methods and assessing the effects of these methods on the aquatic ecology of Yellowstone Lake. The ideal candidate will have an interest in native trout conservation and large lake ecology; extensive field experience including fish sampling, boating, and diving; a considerable interest in quantitative analyses and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; and a strong desire to work closely and collaboratively with other researchers, contractors, and biologists in the National Park Service.
Applicants with a M.S. degree in fisheries science, aquatic ecology, or related discipline will be given preference. Desirable qualifications include demonstrated quantitative and writing skills, extensive field experience, and the ability to work as part of a research team in an extremely remote location within Yellowstone National Park. Applicant must have strong interests in conserving native trout; advancing science to mitigate for invasive, nonnative fishes; and working with natural resource agencies and stakeholders.
