No. 1. Society for Freshwater Science

Members of the North American Benthological Society (NABS) voted by a majority of 78 percent to change the society’s name to the Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) at their annual meeting held May 22–26, 2011 in Providence, RI. Eighty-one percent of members also voted to change the society’s journal title from the Journal of the North American Benthological Society to Freshwater Science. Read more...

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) (formerly the North American Benthological Society) will hold its annual meeting at the Marriott Louisville Downtown, Louisville, KY from Sunday, May 20 to Thursday, May 24, 2012. The theme of the meeting is ‘Freshwater Stewardship: Opportunities and Challenges’. This meeting will advance ongoing efforts to link scientists and policymakers with a broader group of stakeholders in non-governmental environmental organizations and managers from the regulated community. We hope to expand our understanding of the challenges and solutions for solving problems with our freshwater resources and identify new frontiers in freshwater science that can contribute to solutions for environmental management. JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) (formerly the North American Benthological Society) will hold its annual meeting at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, Jacksonville, FL from Sunday, May 19 to Thursday, May 23, 2013. The theme of the meeting is “Energy production and aquatic biodiversity: Understanding the threats, planning for ecosystem management”. This meeting will advance ongoing efforts to link scientists and policymakers with a broader group of stakeholders in non-governmental environmental organizations and managers from the regulated community.
