Instars Mentoring Program
The program will sponsor Instars Graduate Mentors by providing a modest stipend for the annual meeting. Student membership in the society is a priority for funding Instars Graduate Mentors; potential for presentation by the graduate mentor during the conference, and the student’s number of years as a member of SFS will also be considered but would not preclude funding.
Please note the following eligibility criteria:
Participants must be graduate students enrolled in a degree program (part-time or full-time) leading to a Masters or Doctoral degree. Spring 2012 graduates are eligible; Fall 2011. Postdoctoral students may also apply as Instars Mentors, however priority will be given to graduate students enrolled in a degree program.
For the purposes of these awards, preference will be given to applicants belonging to one or more of the following groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in the freshwater sciences: Black/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Americans/ Alaska Natives, Native Pacific Islanders (Hawaiian/Polynesian/Micronesian), Asian American, Indian, and first generation students and persons with disabilities.
